The other day one of my buyers who was paying a note wanted to re-new his note with me.
He had stopped paying months ago (since COVID happened).
I’ve been sitting on it, not really taking the necessary steps to default it, take it back, and put it back on the market (mainly because I just don’t want to deal with it right now, I have two others that I have to do the same with).
Anyway, this buyer has been struggling; personal, family issues. At least that’s what he tells me.
He wanted to meet up to re-kindle things, get advice from me, and start the note a new. Which I’m fine with as long as my rule isn’t broken: I meet in a 5-mile radius from my house.
So we set it the day. I text him a day before to verify, which he responds back saying “Yes!”. And I drive all the way out there (damn near the 5-mile radius border from my house).
I even cancel an appointment with someone who may be a potential client of mine where I can make a little more than this note every month.
I show up 5 minutes early.
I text him to let him know I’m there.
20 minutes later… nothing.
I leave after 30 minutes… pissed off.
No show, no text, no call.
This is a demonstration of the LACK OF INTEGRITY growing right now in this country.
I’m not just stirring a dust cloud for attention… there are more and more men and business people who say they are going to do something and don’t do it.
I don’t care if this buyer had a family emergency or the wife was giving birth… a curiosity call or text would have sufficed.
And they are doing without realizing the long-term effect it has on you scoring deals, funding, and overall trust from people.
Take for example the internet world.
I’m sure you are part of a number of other people’s email lists selling info products. You’ve seen the “99% off ends in one hour” emails.
Then the next day, you get another email from the same person: “Oh we had so much success that our server broke down so we are re-opening the sale one last time today!”
… or whatever bullshit excuse they have for breaking their word.
This might not seem like a big deal… but it slowly chips at their trust. People don’t believe these words anymore.
This type of marketing gimmicks (my guess) wasn’t seen in the ’50s and ’60s where people’s words were binding.
That’s why, in a world full of gimmicks like this, any slight hint of integrity and you’ll have all the trust of many men and all the power that goes along with it.
That’s why (if you’re trying to find money or deals) it’s important to make sure EVERYTHING you do gives of the scent of man or woman of INTEGRITY.
*showing up on time (or even better, early)
*Doing what you say you’re going to do.
*Responding back to calls/texts/emails.
*Telling the blatant truth from the beginning
Anything else that demonstrates a man/woman of character.
Anyway, that’s my rant of today because I was fed up with all the gimmicks and lack of MEN that we deal with.
They don’t realize the long-term effect it has when they try and close a deal, or ask for money.
The results are the same as a 3-year-old being ignored by the rest of the kids.
Like my son Johnny:
He loves to be the “joker”. He loves to make laughs for himself. But he does it where it’s annoying for the other kids. Like, he takes their toys and runs. Or deliberately messes up what they are building. Then soon, the kids ignore him, avoid him, and lock him out of the run. Johnny will then come running to me crying that the kids don’t want to play with him; not understanding the direct effect he’s causing on himself.
And just like you other investors ignore you.
Anyway… here’s a REAL deadline that doesn’t open back up a day after.
The coupon literally ends Oct. 31 at midnight.
And I have literally turned people away who have emailed me AFTER the deadline asking if they can get the discount. …
My answer is always (politely) “No”.
Or it would make me a liar to the rest of my list.
(unlike todays internet marketers who break their promise at wave of money)
