Axing neediness

During the Christmas season, My wife and make it a tradition to watch a few great movies every year.

One being, “It’s a wonderful life”.

And there’s a great business and investing lesson we can take from the shrewd, greedy, and mean businessman, Mr. Potter about not being NEEDY.

SPOILER ALERT: if you haven’t watched the movie I might spoil somethings for you.

When the 1930’s depression hit, everyone rushed to the “Building’s and Loan” building that the main character George Bailey owned to get their money out.

The entire town was inside, clamoring to get their money in a panic.

However, like most loans and banks… Mr. Bailey doesn’t have all their money at hand. It’s tied up in house-loans.

So, Mr. Potter, who’s calm during this storm, offers to BUY all their stock for 50%.

Since it’s a tragedy, most are willing to take that cut for some CASH (sounds like real estate).

Then, good ole’ George Bailey offers some wise words:

“Don’t you see what’s happening? Potter isn’t selling. Potter’s buying! And why? Because we’re panicky and he’s not. That’s why. He’s picking up some bargains.”

There’s a whole number of lessons from that one phrase, but the one I want to focus on today is this:

Mr. Potter was anything BUT needy. He didn’t need the stock (he wanted it).

Everyone was in a panic. They weren’t prepared for disaster. They weren’t ready and therefore…. they were needy and desperate in the worst times.

Being NEEDY is the single worst thing you can have when entering any negotiation or selling point.

And everything is a “negotiation” in life: deciding on what service to use, asking for forgiveness from your spouse, getting your kids to do something.

It makes you immediately act on emotions without reason, it makes you forget what you’re there for, it gets you to take BAD deals… and it gets you to quit too soon.

And in a newsletter inside my Deal Magnet News membership, I detail a step by step process of GETTING RID of neediness before you enter into any sales presentation or negotiation.

It’s nothing “woo-woo”, it’s not about breathing techniques… it’s simply a copywriting and salesmen process for getting to the close effectively and calmy by asking yourself a few questions.

It can almost guarantee you that you’ll say “Next” to the unqualified folks faster… and move the “sales needle” with prospects sooner than later.

And the technique works for negotiation in any topic of life.

You can tune in along with loads of other marketing audios, and deal-finding interviews for .40 cents a day (more affordable than your local REI club).

Check it out while I still allow “free trails” and while it’s still .40 cents a day (yes I will be raising the price sometime in early mid-2021).
